Bio-Organic Exosuit

This is another extensive kitbash like the Daemon Chicken piece. The core design of this project was to try to create something that would fit within the aesthetic designs of the Game Workshop Warhammer 40k universe’s Adeptus Sororitas faction using existing pieces I had available to me.Specifically I was trying to replicate the Paragon Warsuit designs (below) but shift it from mechanical to biologically designed.

The first steps to this project was to build a base form from the Ossiarch Bonereapers Necropolis Stalker kit. It was the correct size for the scale of the Paragon Warsuit with minimal adaptations aside from a slight drilling out of the chest and neck region. Next the original warsuit has hand driven controls used by the pilot to maneuver the vehicle, to replicate this I created organic hand controls from two Tyranid pieces a Ripper head and a gun arm. The control finished I them made the weapons for the suit from a Tyranid sword and Rifle as well. The control arms and the weapon arms were pinned using metal wire to both better attach the piece to the model and allow for some movement for final posing.

After pinning and checking the orientation of the weapons, I used epoxy puddy (green stuff) to secure the arms to the model and then textured them to appear more organic after painting. Finally I used the green stuff to secure a pilot head into the chest area of the model.

After the epoxy dried I base coated and painted the model purple and tarnished brass. The purple and pinks showed off the fleshy organic pieces of the mecha suit, while the tarnish brass (accomplished via a copper base and a black ink wash) imparted an implied metallic connection to the original Paragon Warsuit inspiration.
