The Daemon Chicken is a kitbash based around the Game Workshop Scout Sentinel kit. I wanted to remake the base kit to appear like a living machine blending organic materials into the design. This was done over several passed by including various component from other model kits including Game Workshop Blight Crawler and bulking out via a combination of sculpting clay and tin foil.

However after base coating the model in white it felt like it need both more armor and more organic parts. To fix the armor issues more pieces from both the Sentinel and Blight Crawler were added. To address the organic feel railroad scale scenery trees were cut, covered in glue and painted in red to give the feeling of raw, exposed muscles and tendons binding to the machine, additionally parts from the Game Workshop Genestealer kit were added to both feet and legs to give more organic looking weapons to the machine.

After this the model was re-base coated and painted. The color scheme chosen was copper with a black ink wash for the metal, neon green for the ports and exhaust, and the exposed “skin” to be pink with a heavy brushing of white to make it feel chalky and dusty.
